Ne-Yo and Shakira Collaboration Cleared Up
Posted by admin on 1. September 2008 at 1:41 PM UTC

Ne-Yo has written several hits for other female artists such as Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, and Rihanna
Last month, a song titled “Forbidden Fruit” leaked on the internet that found R&B singer Ne-Yo with lyrics that weren’t quite commonly sang about from a male point of view. Rumors quickly spread around the internet that the song would be a collaboration with Shakira. Rap-Up.com recently spoke with Ne-Yo to get the truth behind the forbidden fruit.
“I wrote that for [Shakira]. She wound up not taking it. A lot of these songs that wind up on the Internet, people don’t get the back story and then it just sounds weird. You have me singing a song and I’m saying ‘he’ a lot, and nobody makes the assumption that I’m a songwriter and I do write songs for women every now and then. People don’t gather that so then they go, ‘Oh, what is this? What is Ne-Yo doing? Is he trying to tell us something?’ No, I’m not trying to tell you anything. You shouldn’t have downloaded the song, pirates!”
Shakira is, however, currently in the studio working on her brand new album that is predicted for a 2009 release.
Arab stereotype song recording untrue, says publicist
Posted by admin on 30. August 2008 at 1:21 PM UTC
Colombian pop star Shakira’s publicist says a report that the singer will record a song about Islam and Arabs with Arab-American singer Dania Youssef is untrue. Al-Arabiya reported that Shakira, who is of Lebanese and Colombian descent, is penning the English lyrics, while Egyptian composer Mohamed Saad is writing the Arabic portion of the song, as well as the music. The report said a U.S. director was expected to film a music video for the song.
Shakira’s publicist, Diana Baron, told UPI the report was incorrect.
“This report is a total fabrication in every respect,” she said.
Shakira — who was honored last week with the Humanitarian of the Year Award at the ALMA Awards — is working on a new record, Baron said.
Shakira has for the past year served as an advocate for early childhood education, working for her Barefoot Foundation, Fundacion Pies Descalzos and Fundacion America Latina en Accion Solidaria — which promotes prosperity for children in Latin America as well as vaccinations and pre-natal care.

For her continuous efforts to help those who have less, the Colombian singer Shakira will be honored today at the Alma awards ceremony to be held in Pasadena, California, and bringing together the artistic community in Latin America.
“We will honor Shakira for the work he has done with the foundation created long ago… I do not think everyone knows the attention she has put into educating children…” stated Janet Murguia, Chairperson of the National Council of La Raza in press statements.
It may be recalled that the entertainer is not only goodwill ambassador for UNICEF but also does a great deal of humanitarian work through foundations ALAS and Pies Descalzos.
